NEWS: LA Comedy Shorts Schedule Up

The schedule for the L.A. Comedy Shorts Festival is now up!

  • Batman Relieves – Friday 2:00PM, part of the “I’d Rather Be Pissed Off Than Pissed On” block.
  • The Ministry of Unknown Science: Operation Balls – Sunday 2:00PM, part of the “You Kiss Your Mama With That Mouth?” block.
  • Eric’s triumph over cancer, human poverty, and peak oil – Sunday 7:00 PM – Closing Night Red Carpet Awards Gala at the Elevate Lounge.

And I’m still looking into details the whole “Filmmaker Q&A” thingie, so I’ll keep you apprised.  And appraised.  (You’re worth less than you think on the open market.)

RANDOM FICTION: Sinatra Punched a Dog

Sinatra punched a dog once, back stage at the Sands.  No reason for it.  He came off stage, shoes gleaming, stinking of whisky, and there was a cocker spaniel with a “punch me” look on its face.

Well, what’s a man to do?  You pay so much for the suits, you gota put ’em to use.  Dog-punchin’ suits, they were, and that’s what they called ’em from that day forward.

The spaniel slunk out the back, chewed his paws and cursed the Sands good, like only a spaniel can.  He passed to dog Valhalla before the wrecking ball came, but on the day the cameras recorded the Sands crumbling to dust, there were a thousand canine halos circling that site. yipping at the explosive charges and taking one last spectral whiz on the lobby carpet.

I rode a pick up truck fifty miles outside of Vegas, looking for a brunette whore I could really, really care about, call my own, shower with pancakes and cream.  I found her, but she had a spaniel in her; an angry spaniel who mistook me for Frank Sinatra.

Must have been the dog-punchin’ suit and the pork pie pants.

NEWS: I’ve been accepted to the 2010 L.A. Comedy Shorts Festival… Twice!

Yes, ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between, I’m tickled the proverbial shade of pink. I’ve had not one, but two films selected for the L.A Comedy Shorts Film Festival.

The first is “Batman Relieves,” the short I shot last year around this time. (And yes, it was at one point called “Batman: Number One,” but this made it damn near impossible to search for on youtube.)

The other is our classic Ministry of Unknown Science pilot “Operation Balls.” We were always unnaturally proud of this, and we’re super excited that it’s finally going to get shown before an audience.

Both of the these little nuggets of comedy can be found by clicking on my videos section and ignoring anything labeled “Iraqi Banjo Tour.”

  • BATMAN RELIEVES will be shown FRIDAY, APRIL 16th at 2:00pm.
  • THE MINISTRY OF UNKNOWN SCIENCE: OPERATION BALLS will be shown SUNDAY, APRIL 18th at 2:00pm.
